I'm about to drive my 2016 Clubman from Florida to Oregon in three weeks, fully loaded with everything I own, and the battery is original as far as I know. No warning lights yet but it does sound a little sluggish on cold mornings, like it's thinking about it for an extra second before firing up. Part of me wants to just send it and hope for the best, but getting stranded somewhere in Texas with a trunk full of clothes and a confused cat sounds like my personal nightmare. I've been looking into whether it's worth doing proactively and came across a few threads mentioning Mini Cooper battery change experts who handle the registration process so the car's computer doesn't freak out. Is it overkill to replace something that's still working, or am I being smart avoiding a tow in the middle of nowhere? Curious if anyone else has done a long haul like this right after a swap.
